There’s an age difference of about 99 years between the trinity Church (completed in 1877) and the Jon Hancock building (completed in 1976). These unlikely neighbors live side by side and embody the blending of old and new in Boston.
The thing that struck me today was how well the enormous Hancock building fit in with its surroundings. I've seen how clouds and buildings reflect off its windows many times before, but today I realized that this reflection helps it both stand apart and blend in with all the buildings, people and sky that surrounds it. I imagine this was the intent of the architect, but it's really cool to think about feature. For almost 40 years the Hancock has been the tallest building in Boston, it's an icon, and it has always reflected the city and sky back onto it self. So, this is the theme. Be unique, but take time to reflect.
