Chelsea keeps me on my toes when it comes to framing up a picture. She moves fast, and has a bazillion faces. Here are some of my favorites from this beautiful day in Rochester - Right before we got in the car to head home after the long 4th of July weekend.
Here's a general breakdown of my process for shooting child portraits.
Step 1
Get everyone comfortable and loosened up. I like to start with a wide shot to establish the scene. Here I ask Chelsea to look towards me and give me a nice smile. I focus on her eyes, frame up the shot... Click. Hmm.
Step 2.
Work the shot. Lets fill the frame a bit more. I ask for a "relaxed face" this time. I love the composition here... but something still isn't right. Chelsea may have thought her first expression was under-appreciated?
Step 3
You need to work quickly because... Ok, that should do it! Thank you Chelsea! Now on to some landscape photography?
